How to put a link, logo, or picture into an Outlook email signature

If you want to put your name, phone number, or address in your email signature in Outlook Express this is extremely easy because it is just text that you write. Even a link to your website is easy as you just write the url and it will become a link automatically. For example you can write http://www.101pctips.com/ to make a link.

If you want to put a picture or logo in your Outlook express email signature it is a bit more difficult as you have to create a html file with the details in it.
I reccomend you read Logo in email signature and then watch this video tutorial. It shows you how to write html to link your logo or picture that is stored on the internet.

Putting a logo or picture in your email signature in Outlook express can be a great advertising tool for your business or website.

When I connect my digital camera to my computer, where is the automatic scanner and camera wizard?

Everyone wants to know how to use the automatic scanner and camera wizard and they would really like to know where it is? What happens when you plug your digital camera into your computer and nothing happens. If you are lucky you will here the ding noise when you connect the camera, but sometimes that's it.
Why doesn't the scanner and camera wizard just open automatically when the camera is plugged into your computer? How do you make the scanner and camera wizard open automatically? These are just a sample of questions that I get emailed to me everyday!

My theory is that if you hear a noise when you connect your digital camera to your computer, then that is a good sign. It means that the computer has recognized your device and knows it's there. The next step is to transfers photos from your digital camera to your computer. This is usually done with the automatic scanner and camera wizard.

Here's how to open the scanner and camera wizard:
  1. Go to the start menu and choose my computer from there.
  2. If your camera is connected and is turned on there will be an icon there.
  3. Right click on the digital camera icon and choose get pictures from the menu.
  4. This will start the automatic scanner and camera wizard.

You can also make the automatic scanner and camera wizard start when you connect your digital camera. It will even transfer photos to your my picture folder and put them in another folder with the date as the name. For more details watch this video on how to use the scanner and camera wizard. Also see this other popular article about the Scanner and Camera Wizard.

Put the run window link back in the Windows Vista start menu

When you first get Windows Vista you will notice that the run window link is missing from the start menu. This is very annoying as it was available by default in Windows XP. I really don't know why they took the link to the run window out of the start menu, however thankfully it is easy to put it back.

Here's how to put the run windows link back in the Windows Vista Start menu:
  1. Right click in the blank space on your taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. A menu will appear. Choose properties.
  3. Then choose the start menu tab.
  4. Now press on the advanced button.
  5. Now find the word Run command and make sure there is a tick in the box next to it.
You can also watch this video tutorial to see how to put the run window link back into the start menu of Windows Vista.

How to use Windows XP System Restore tool

System Restore is a Windows System tool that backups your computer or basically takes a snapshot of it, to restore to it at a later date. So for example if you set a restore point when you first get your computer, if you look at it, thats exactly what you get if you restore back to that spot.

Even though system restore leaves the files you created intact, it will not leave programs on your comuter that you did not have when the snap shot was taken. So if you have photos and files they will still be on your computer when you restore it to an earlier date, however any programs you installed after the snap shot will have to be re-installed to use. Just remmber that system restore will not recover a file that you have deleted so if you are restoring, hoping that your accidentally deleted file will come back...it won't.

I use System restore at least a few times a week. Just before I am going to install something, including Windows updates, I set a restore point. This is just incase something out of the blue ruins my smoothly running computer. Trust me, it has come in very handy.

Sometimes you don't even have to do anything and your computer can still go haywire. As we all know they have a mind of thier own.

Watch this video to see how to get to system restore and how to use it.

Download and convert Youtube videos to play on your computer, ipod, dvd player, or mobile phone.

There are a few different ways that you can download a youtube video, however before doing so you must research the copyright law in your country. I always stick to the old music clips and funny homemade videos. This keeps me from breaching any copyright laws in my country.

One popular way to download a youtube video is to simply go to a website that downloads and converts the video for you. They have suddenly poped up all over the interent so it is not hard to find one when searching. I have tried www.savevid.com and found it very easy to use.

How to download a youtube video at the savevid.com website
  • Copy the URL in the address bar when you’re viewing the video, and paste it to the text box at the top of this page
  • Click 'Download'.
  • You will see a 'Download this video from ...' link. Right click on it and select 'Save as ...' from the menu.
  • Some of the providers (like Youtube) do not provide you with the real name of the video file. So you will have to rename the file before or after saving. You’ll have to change the extension to FLV too.

If you go there and give it a go.. This is the best way to learn.

Download and convert Youtube videos to play on your computer, ipod, dvd player, or mobile phone with a free program.

Watch this video below to see how to download and convert youtube video and save it to your computer. You will need to download a free program called any video converter. See where to download the free program and how to Download and convert Youtube videos to your computer to save here. I like using this program because all I need is the URL of the youtube video and the program does the rest.
